As if any traveler needs a reason to visit a buzzy city and spend time talking all things travel—well, we’ve got one. It’s called Nomadness Fest, and it’s just a couple weeks away.

To back it up a bit, the Nomadness Travel Tribe is a thriving online community for millennial travelers of color. Founded by Evita Robinson back in 2011, the humming Facebook group now has tens of thousands of members, and has been spun into a web series (‘The Nomadness Project’) with Issa Rae. Best of all, there’s also an annual event for the Nomadness community to come together.

After a pandemic hiatus in which Nomadness Fest (until this year, called Audacity Fest), was entirely online, the popular event is back in person this September. And it’s taking place in Newark, New Jersey.

Over three days (Friday, September 9 to Sunday, September 11), the festival will take many forms—with networking events, conference-style panels, and just-for-fun social events—for travelers of color and allies.

On Friday, an invite-only industry day will bring together travel experts (including several members of the Condé Nast Traveler team) for panels and networking. The conversation opens up on Saturday, when all travelers are able to attend sessions on topics ranging from moving abroad to hacking the points game. Come Sunday? It’s the moment we’re always waiting for: the Tribe Barbecue. From 12p.m. to 5p.m., guests will get to unwind over great food, and chat with other members of the community. Consider this your moment to get intel on your next trip. Or, maybe you’ll meet a new travel buddy. Just make sure come with your best travel stories.
