6:00pm – 9:00pm:
Join us for the grand opening reception at Military Park. Let’s kick off Fitness Fest with a bang! Enjoy line dancing and performances by Uziima as we set the tone for an amazing weekend ahead.
Saturday
June 1, 2024
10:00am – 11:00am:
Rise and shine for a rejuvenating yoga and meditation session in all downtown parks. Start your day on a peaceful note and connect with your mind, body, and spirit.
12:00pm – 6:00pm:
- Lincoln Park: Try your hand at Tai Chi, Capoeira, Zumba for Seniors and Circuit Training.
- Military Park: It’s all about the ladies! Channel your inner boxer and get your heart pumping with boxing training sessions from Femme Boxing. Visit the City of Newark Department of Health Women’s Wellness Village where they will have plenty with testing, workshops and activations.
- Harriet Tubman Square: Put your dancing shoes on and join us for a day of dancing: Afrobeat, West African, and Jersey Club with NJPAC.
- Mulberry Commons: Take an instructor lead power walk/run with Brick City Run Club or bike ride with the HBCU Bike crew while exploring Newark’s downtown.
- Riverfront: Engage in friendly matches of kickball and basketball. Learn the new sport that is taking the world by storm pickleball with the USA Pickleball Association. There will also be circuit training to keep the energy high PLUS kayak on the Passaic River with Hackensack Riverkeeper.
