Juneteenth Around the Square will feature delicious, free meals provided by Audible from local Black-owned restaurants, along with games, performances, drumming, line dancing, a DJ, and lantern and mask-making. The celebration follow’s last year’s inaugural Juneteenth community cook-out, which drew over 1,300 people.
Audible will also be collaborating with the Urban League of Essex County to register new voters at Juneteenth Around the Square and other events this year, to increase civic engagement and promote stronger communities.
This event is hosted by the Newark City Parks Foundation, Audible, the City of Newark, and the Newark Arts & Education District.
